Islamic Failure Series – Episode 62 – Why do religious Muslims grow a beard and shave their moustaches?
Ever wondered why religious Muslims grow a beard and trim their moustaches in a way that makes them look like 10-hairs from being a baboon face?

It’s all there in the Sunnah, and Hadith! There are tons of Hadith, but I am going to quote some:
Ibn `Umar said, The Prophet (ﷺ) said, Do the opposite of what the pagans do. Keep the beards and cut the moustaches short Whenever Ibn `Umar performed the Hajj or `Umra, he used to hold his beard with his hand and cut whatever moustaches. Ibn `Umar used to cut his moustache so short that the whiteness of his skin (above the upper lip) was visible, and he used to cut (the hair) between his moustaches and his beard
Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, Cut the moustaches short and leave the beard (as it is)

And now it becomes more ridiculous by clinging to instinct ! Shaving pubes is an instinct!
The Messenger of Allah [SAW] said: “Ten things are part of the Fitrah (where Fitrah means instinct): Trimming the mustache, trimming the nails, washing the joints, letting the beard grow, using the Siwak (a plant used to clean the teeth), rinsing the nose, plucking the armpit hairs, shaving the pubes, and washing with water (after relieving oneself).” Mus’ab bin Shaibah said: “I have forgotten the tenth, unless it was rinsing the mouth.”
Another similar Hadith but the 10 things from Sunnah and Fitrah do not even match (talk about consistency)! Folks we have a new entry for instinct here!Circumcision
Ten things are from the Sunnah: Using the Siwak, trimming the mustache, rinsing the mouth, rinsing the nose, letting the beard grow, trimming the nails, plucking the armpit hairs, circumcision, shaving the pubes and washing one’s backside (aka washing your bottom).

About Mike

Hello, I am an atheist because of reason and personal experience. I am a father of THREE lovely living kids and two dead embryos, married to a lovely Christian Catholic devoted woman. Yes, black and white can coexist as long as there is respect and love, which is something abstracted from any belief or religion. I do not claim absolute truth and not 100% sure that a God does not exist somewhere out there. The scientific method is what I use to connect to reality. If there is something I don't understand, then it is because i don't understand, not because god exists. In case you haven't noticed, I am a native Arab, and English is my third language (yes there is second language). I like reading the Bible and the Quran and the critics of both of them. I also love watching documentaries especially astronomy, cosmology, Quantum Physics, and new discoveries in science in general, and Physics in particular.
